There is a coastal path from Sandyhills to Rockcliffe, which is approx 6miles (12mile return) and does take a full day to complete, but there is a bus that can take you back to your starting point if you don't fancy walking both ways!

The Sandyhills to Rockcliffe coastal path has been described as one of the best in Britain, with stunning views across the Solway to Cumbria and the Isle of Man as well as along the Galloway coast.

Rockcliffe is a lovely, small but very popular village, which cove like beach and lots of rock pools to explore.

Monreith is a quiet bay two miles south east of Port William in the Rhinns of Galloway.

It looks out over Luce bay and overlooking the bay is the bronze otter a memorial to Gavin Maxwell ,also the little derelict Kirkmaiden church.

Enjoy the peacefulness of this bay watch for seals & harbour porpoise marvel at the amazing rock formations.

Nearby is the local golf course also.

Please beware, the beaches in these areas are tidal, and the water comes in very fast, lots of people have been caught out by the deep channels which prevent safely returning to the shore side!!

Make sure you are aware of what time the tides are (Tourist Board have Tide Time booklets) and don't let children wander to far out or away from you.
